The iDEAlist

  • Are you putting HIPs together, and would you like to have a DEA* working direct for you?
  • Or - are you a homeowner wanting an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC)?
  • And - is your property either in London W1 or in Devon / Cornwall?

Yes? Contact me!

I'm qualified and accredited DEA, experienced in producing the EPCs that houses and flats for sale are now required to have.

Having lived in a variety of large, old, rambling and seriously wonky houses most of my life, I specialise in this field. So call me in when you've got a really complicated property - or if you simply want an intelligent inspection carried out on a standard one.

I live in the very heart of London, just a few hundred yards north of Marble Arch, and am willing to inspect properties in most parts of W1.

In the West Country, I'm based near Looe and I cover the Caradon area; my preferred area lies within the red oval on the map below, and I'm willing to travel on occasion to a location within the blue oval (so long as it's on dry land).

I've lived in the same areas for most of my life, and I know them well. Plus I'm a member of the IAM
(www.iam.org.uk) which means I'm more likely than the average driver to arrive at my West Country appointments on time, with my car and myself in good condition.

I work freelance, and I normally lodge the report within three days of receiving the commission - so contact me soon!

* DEA = Domestic Energy Assessor - the person whose task it is to visit a house or flat and collect the data necessary for the Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) to be produced.

The EPC is a document that provides two things:
1) a snapshot of the building as it exists, in terms of how efficiently it uses energy and how its emissions affect the environment. A couple of bar graphs, similar to the rating chart on fridges, sum up the information, and these are backed up by written details.

2) a list of things, in order of cost-effectiveness, that can be done to improve the rating of the building.

If you're a homeowner it can be a great idea to get an EPC done before putting your home on the market. Why? Because for a small outlay you have the chance to make improvements that when completed and incorporated into the updated EPC may well make a significant increase in the sale price of your home.

PS Why 'The iDEAlist'? Because I'd like all home owners to know what they can do to help Save The World!
